GPS
The Ohio Schools Council's preferred vendors for Global Positioning System (GPS) units for members are Seon Systems Sales Inc., Synovia, LLC and Zonar Systems. These vendors have agreed to provide their products to OSC members at a substantial discount.
GPS units on school buses and other vehicles can be very beneficial in locating vehicles in real time, tracking routes, monitoring the timing of routes, idle time, variance of speed and from routes, the exact time of entering and exiting a specific location and more. With additional features of inputs/outputs, you can monitor when and where a vehicle’s parking break, stop arm, flashers or wheelchair lift are activated, as well as when the entrance door is opened. A GPS product can assist you not only in an emergency situation, but for regular route monitoring and verification. In addition, these products have the capability of integrating with some routing software. Contact Tami Perkins for vendor information at (800) 264-1326, ext. 103 or email tperkins@osconline.org.

Zonar Systems
Zonar offers the V2J HD-GPS, ZPass Student Tracking, and EVIR Inspection modules. With their flexible system, schools are free to pick and choose the solutions that work best for them. All information gathered from Zonar’s products is organized in their secure, web-based Ground Traffic Control application. This user-friendly software comes with dozens of pre-made and customizable reports, as well as one-click data export to Excel and an open API for using data in third-party systems for routing, payroll and more.
The V2J HD-GPS is the in-vehicle device that collects the latitude, longitude, time and odometer of all assets. This device can also be upgraded to provide diagnostics capabilities. The V2J serves as the hub to transmit data from all other Zonar devices.
Zonar’s patented ZPass tracks student ridership, using student RFID cards. Students swipe their ZPass ID card when entering or exiting the bus, then the time, date and location is logged and immediately transmitted to a secure database that is accessible via Zonar's Ground Traffic Control application. Parents can also use our ZPass+ system to have their child’s ridership information sent to them in a text message. The ZPass+ service is billed directly to parents.
Inspections and maintenance can be organized and integrated with Zonar’s patented EVIR inspection solution. Pre- and post-trip inspections are performed with the handheld device, which scans the RFID tags placed at key points around the vehicle. All maintenance information is organized in the web-based Ground Traffic Control application.
