The Power4Schools program is a partnership between the Ohio Schools Council (OSC), the Ohio Association of School Business Officials (OASBO), the Ohio School Boards Assocation (OSBA) and the Buckeye Association of School Administrators (BASA) offering electric generation savings for Ohio school districts.  It is the merging of OSC's Energy for Education Program with OASBO, OSBA and BASA's SchoolPool Program to create a partnership by pooling purchasing power statewide.  The mission of the program is to bring savings on electric generation costs and budget certainty to Ohio public schools.

Power4Schools has selected FirstEnergy Solutions as its exclusive provider for school districts in the Ohio Edison, The Illuminating Company, Toledo Edison, Duke Energy and AEP Ohio Power service areas.  FirstEnergy Solutions Corp., based in Akron, is a leading energy supplier, serving residential, commercial and industrial customers throughout the Northeast, Midwest and Mid-Atlantic regions of the U.S.

Since 2001, the Power4Schools sponsoring entitites have collectively saved Ohio school districts more than $20 million in electricity costs.

  • Eligible school distrists in the Ohio Edison, The Illuminating Company and Toledo Edison service areas can enjoy both saviings on electric generation and budget stability for the next 8 1/2 years and eligible districts in the Duke Energy and AEP Ohio Power service areas can enjoy both saviings on electric generation and budget stability for a two year period.

  • By joining the Power4Schools Electrict Program, districts in the Ohio Edison, The Illuminating Company and Toledo Edison service areas will save an average of 16% off the generation portion of the schools' electric bills over the next three years and districts in the AEP Ohio Power service area can save an average of 4% off the generation portion of the schools' electric bills over the next two years.  Collectively, this could bring as much as $80 million in savings to program participants over the term of the agreement.
